Good figs and Conversations with God

“This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Like these good figs, I regard as good the exiles from Judah, whom I sent away from this place to the land of the Babylonians.[b] My eyes will watch over them for their good, and I will bring them back to this land. I will build them up and not tear them down; I will plant them and not uproot them. I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.

God's eyes will watch over me for my good, and He will bring me back to this land. He will build me up and not tear me down; He will plant me and not uproot me. God will give me a heart to know Him, that He is the Lord. I will be God's, and God will be my God, for I will return to God with all my heart.

When I come across a Bible verse that really speaks to my heart, I copy it into my journal and change the pronouns to first person, so that its is as if I am having a conversation with God.

It us surprising how this little change can make me feel closer to God. To feel as if I speaking with him and am able to hold His promises closer to my heart.

These are little things. But when we feel alone, little things can make all the difference in the world.

This also highlights why daily conversations with God are so important. We need to seek God daily through the Bible and through prayer. In this way, we draw closer to God and become more sensitive to God's gentle whispers that might otherwise escape our notice.

I believe God is often speaking to us, sharing consolation and wisdom, but we need to be present if we are to hear His voice.
